Mike Michaels’ Gentle Earth Bio:

The music of soft-rocker Mike Michaels is a rare hybrid of new nostalgia that evokes the ‘vaseline-on-lens’ warm glow of AM radio for the sensitive, headphone-d souls of the anthropocene.

After travelling the earth playing vibraphone and synthesiser and singing backing vocals with friends and fellow freaks Babe Rainbow, Michaels’ has recently traded the hard-rocking life on the road for the more gentle inner path of the studio.

With the knowledge of and passion for the harmonic language and chord progressions of the Carole King/Burt Bacharach/Brian Wilson school and 1970s inspired instrumentation and vocal harmony in the tradition of fellow long-haired and once-resident adult contemporary artists of his home town Brisbane, the BeeGees, he brings together classic catchy melodies with introverted, obscure and meandering lyrics to create sweet and charming vignettes that explore the rich inner world, meditative yet neurotic, of the modern gentle-person.
